GREENWICH SOCCER ASSOCIATION TRAVEL PROGRAM
The Greenwich Soccer Association (GSA) fields travel teams to participate in League Play organized by the South West District which is under the Connecticut Junior Soccer Association (CJSA). It is a two season (Fall and Spring) program. A full commitment is required from both players and parents. The number of teams fielded in each age group is primarily based on the number of qualified players who tryout. The coaching directors, coaches and outside soccer professionals evaluate players for teams during annual tryouts held in May of each year. Players must try out for the team and be invited to participate.
Practices - There are four scheduled practices per week, each player is expected to attend two practices but may attend all four if they choose to. Players should advise their coaches if they are unable to attend or participate in a practice.
District League Games - Teams will play a complete league schedule (usually 7-8 games as set by our CJSA District League commissioners) in the fall and spring seasons. These games are normally played on Sunday afternoons, with make-up games scheduled on other days subject to field availability. Attendance is required at all games (with the exception of illness or family commitments).
Friendly Games - Teams can play, at coaches discretion, additional non-league games.
Tournaments – GSA will pay for entry into two tournaments for each travel team (one in Fall and one in the Spring).
Coaches - GSA employs a professional coach for each team for all practices and all games.
